Youth Group

The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad Youth Group (THRSYG) was organized in August 2013 by squad members Deb Lohnes, Bill Gaillard, and Beth Cipperly. To be a member one must be between the ages of 12 to 15. It is a youth program with the focus on EMS, community service and self-growth. The group’s values include: Teamwork, Health, Readiness, SYmpathetic, and Generosity (THRSYG).

Youth group meeting are held the first Tuesday of each month from 7 pm to 8 pm at the squad building and an activity is planned once a month. Each current member has completed certification in American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR First Aid and AED.

The group has been active in the community too. They have assisted in raising money for fire victims by serving at a community breakfast. The members enjoy holding a haunted house every Halloween. They constructed and raced in the HAYC3 bed race. Members built a float to participate in the Memorial Day parade. Other activities include a car wash, movie night and a trip to the Albany Museum. Some members when turning age 16 become junior members and ride the ambulance. If you are interested in becoming a youth group member, you may download the information from the volunteer page.
